WWII German Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet War Badge – Ground Dug

Original WWII German Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet War Badge (Flottenkriegsabzeichen) in ground-dug condition.

The badge depicts a German battleship cutting through the waves, surrounded by the characteristic gilt oak-leaf wreath and surmounted by the Kriegsmarine eagle. Despite being a ground find, a considerable amount of the original gold-coloured finish remains on the wreath and eagle, while the central ship retains its contrasting grey finish.

The reverse shows typical age and ground exposure, with oxidation and surface deposits throughout. Remarkably, the pin, hinge and catch assembly are still present and complete. The long pin remains attached.

A genuine battlefield/relic-condition piece with an attractive untouched appearance and plenty of character.
