WWII German Propaganda Leaflets for Soviet Troops – Russian Liberation Army (ROA)
German WWII propaganda leaflet printed in Russian and German, intended for Soviet Red Army soldiers on the Eastern Front.
One side features the heading “БОЙЦЫ!” (Soldiers!) and an anti-war message describing the destruction of cities and villages, millions of casualties, wounded soldiers, widows and orphans. The text questions the purpose of continuing the war and ends with the slogan “Eternal rest to the dead, sorrow to the disabled, happiness to those who survived!”
The reverse features a bilingual “PASSIERSCHEIN – ПРОПУСК” (Safe Conduct Pass) with two German Wehrmacht eagle insignia.
The pass was intended for Soviet officers, political personnel and soldiers crossing over to German forces, the Russian Liberation Army (ROA), or allied Ukrainian, Caucasian, Cossack, Turkestani and Tatar volunteer formations.
At the bottom, the leaflet states that Soviet soldiers could surrender even without the pass by raising both hands and shouting “Stalin kaput!”
Printed reference code: 1055/X.44, indicating October 1944.
